Thomas Aquinas on the Trinity and the Image of God

The modern-day retrieval movement is focused on retrieving the tradition of medieval scholastic theology, especially concerning the doctrine of God and that puts Thomas Aquinas front and center of this “resourcement” movement that focuses on Calssical Christian Theism. This movement implicates both Roman Catholic and Reformed thinkers. In this episode of Red Grace Live, we are joined once again by Dr. Lane G. Tipton of the Reformed Forum. In this episode we explore Thomas’s Trinitarian thought and how it comes to bear on the Imago Dei. Rooted in his exitus/reditus scheme of creation, grace and glory; Thomas gives primacy to the Father and grounds the theology of the Image of God in man in the eternal processions of the Trinitarian relations of both Son and Spirit. A critical contribution in a Reformed understanding and response to the “Deeper Roman Catholic Conception” of Rome. This episode continues to develop a comprehensive alternative to Thomas’s view of grace and glory with the “Deeper Protestant Conception” in the Augustinian Calvinist tradition as developed through the contributions of Francis Turretin, Herman Bavink, and Geerhardus Vos.
