Thomas Aquinas on the Invisible Missions, Image of God, and Beatitude

In this episode of Red Grace Live, we continue our discussion with Lane G. Tipton of the Reformed Forum. We continue to break down Thomas’ theology of divine processions and the Imago Die. In this episode we consider Thomas’ understanding of the “Invisible Missions” of God and how that comes to impact his understanding of God’s created Image in man and man’s final Beatitude in glory. For Thomas and the Roman Catholic tradition, the divine processions constitute a direct participation of the divine essence by the creature in the future estate of glory. We will consider what leading Thomistic scholars say about Thomas’ trinitarian structure as well as the Reformed response by theologians like Herman Bavinck and Geerhardus Vos.
