The overwhelming reality in the Bible is that Scripture is very clear and specific about what is sin and that sin is keeping a person in condemnation and ultimately leads to the wrath of God in hell. Equally clear in Scripture is the issue of transformation. The gospel has the power to transform:
Romans 6:17–18 17 But thanks be to God that though you were slaves of sin, you became obedient from the heart to that form of teaching to which you were committed, 18 and having been freed from sin, you became slaves of righteousness.
2 Corinthians 3:18 18 But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit.
Colossians 3:9–10 9 Do not lie to one another, since you laid aside the old self with its evil practices, 10 and have put on the new self who is being renewed to a true knowledge according to the image of the One who created him—
But all of this is being abandoned by the “gay-Christian” movement so called. The term “gay-Christian” is laden with problems. The true Church rejects it as an oxymoronic statement, yet, many have embraced it as biblical truth. In addition to this, there are several nuances that those who embrace the new “gay-hermeneutic” are peddling and sadly, many in the Church are ready to buy. Perhaps one of the most disastrous is the notion that people who undergo conversion do not undergo a change in their “sexual orientation”- they are regenerate but not re-oriented in their sexuality. If this is true, we invert Paul’s teaching in 1 Corinthians and deny the power of God:
1 Corinthians 6:9–11 9 Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, 10 nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God. 11 Such were some of you; but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God.
