Mark Spence is a good friend so it is with great enthusiasm that I write this review of Mark’s “Free Lecture.” At the outset let me say that I thought it was one of the best presentations I have seen in a college/lecture setting. Granted, anyone familiar with similar presentations e.g. Doug Wilson at Indiana University knows that the crowd at Lehigh was much more docile. To the lecture itself, Mark just has a way with words. His demeanor is friendly, funny and frank. Mark gave a good summary of the Christian worldview and then defended it in an “open mic” setting. I love the transcendental argument for the existence of God (TAG) otherwise known as Presuppositionalism; the problem is— few have really been good at making the apologetic accessible, accurate, and amicable all at once. In this lecture, Mark Spence was able to strike a rare blend of these elements with a winsome spirit and a tenacious trust in the Biblical worldview. Mark has a unique ability to take high philosophical concepts and make them practical and conversational especially for college age audiences. True to the apologetic, Mark did a good job of “pushing the antithesis” and showing that the non-Christian worldviews always end in absurdity. REDGRACE cannot recommend Mark’s apologetics enough.
